Dr. Stephen M. Hahn, M.D. is the Chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology at the MD Anderson Cancer Center. In 2014, Hahn became the Chair of Radiation Oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston where he oversees the Divisions of Clinical Radiation Oncology, Radiation physics, and Radiation biology. He is an active clinician, with specialism in treating lung and genitourinary cancers and in the use of photodynamic therapy. Hahn joined the University of Pennsylvania in 1996 as a radiation and medical oncologist, as well as an NIH-funded researcher. Hahn served as Department Chair until 2014. As Vice Chair for Research for the Department of Radiation Oncology at UPenn and Principal Investigator of National Cancer Institute grants, Hahn led the expansion of the department’s research base, which has consistently ranked first or second in NIH funding. Hahn served as a senior investigator and commander in the National Cancer Institute’s U.S. Public Health Service from 1989-95. He served as chief of the NCI’s Prostate Cancer Clinic, Clinical Pharmacology Branch, in Bethesda, Maryland, from 1993–95. Hahn was a medical and radiation oncologist in Santa Rosa, California before joining the University.
